Georgina-and-Garrard-2Georgina Chapman, a 2001 graduate of the Wimbledon School of Art, began her career as a costume designer. Pairing her draping and design expertise with Georgina’s friend Keren’s textile creations resulted in a business partnership and the establishment of Marchesa fashion brand in 2004.

In recent times a former model and Mrs Harvey Weinstein, wife of the Hollywood film producer, Georgina Chapman collaborated with Crown Jeweller Garrard for whom she has designed a limited-edition jewels collection fall 2009 under the tutelage of the company’s creative director Stephen Webster.

The British-born actress comes across as a very down-to-earth London girl (she was born and raised in Richmond) and despite the flights of fancy in tulle and organza that are her trademark as the designer of some of the most beautiful eveningwear creations to grace the red carpet, Georgina Chapman has just inked a deal to become London-based jewelry house Garrard’s debut guest designer.

Georgina’s current project Garrard Limited Edition Jewels Fall 2009 inspired by the feathers that Chapman uses in her Marchesa brand creations is made up of bracelets, earrings, rings, pendants and collars and features glittering sapphires, diamonds, Tahitian pearls, opals and amethysts set in yellow, white and blackened gold.

Although Marchesa brand won popularity in the fashion world and was worn alone by Penelope Cruz, Diane Kruger, Kate Beckinsale, Rachel Weisz, Sharon Stone and Bar Refaeli and even pregnant Heidi Klum, Georgina Chapman and Garrard house Jewels collection 2009 will debut only next New York Fashion Week in September but it seem to me… you’ll be seeing plenty of it on the red carpet soon before.
