Gucci Fashion House started as little family leather and clothing biz. Being a smart guy Guccio quickly won reputation by hiring the best stuff for his property shops and using the beat materials he could get.

1938 saw the opening of Gucci’s first boutique in Rome. And in 1947 Guccio Gucci presented company’s first trademark – famous bamboo gripsack. In the 1950-c Gucci patented the original stripy canvas patter of girth. The next fashion world received so called “gucci shoes” –metal decorated sued moccasins.

Guccio Gucci had six children. His sons Vasco, Aldo, Ugo, and Rodolfo played a leading role in the company. Besides the professional success fashion house was famed by the endless family squabbles which ruined Gucci fashion empire.

familyThus Gucci expanded overseas targeting a position of International prominence in both USA and Far East. In 1953 Aldo helped opening the company’s first boutique in New York and in the late 1960s getting of the actor career Rodolfo returned to the fashion family for opening stores in Hong Kong and Tokyo. During the glamorous and heady days of the design house developed its famous GG logo (Guccio Gucci’s initials).

Gucci remained one of the premier luxury goods establishments in the world until the late 1970s. Then  disputes regarding inheritances, stock holdings, and day-to-day operations of the stores divided the family and led to alliances. Aldo developed the Gucci Accessories Collection, or GAC consisted of small accessories, such as cosmetic bags, lighters, and pens, which were priced at considerably lower points than the other company fashion items.gucci-2guccibag-4

guccishoes2Rodolfo’s death in 1983 caused a major shakeup in the company when he left his 50% stake in Gucci to his son, Maurizio Gucci. Maurizio allied with Aldo’s son Paolo to gain control of the Board of Directors and established the Gucci Licensing division in the Netherlands for this purpose.

In 1995 Maurizio Gucci was hitman shut near his Milan apartment. The killer was hired by his ex-wife Patrizia Reggiani.

Nowadays Gucci empire is a good-working conglomerate of merged brands headed by Frida Giannini, Tomas Maier, Stefano Pilati, Nicolas Ghesquiere.
