Despite the tough crisis times, women still want to look attractive and fashion designers keep on creating new fashion wear, thus giving work to fashion models, which continue to make money!

And the Forbes journal keeps on counting models’ annual earning and ranging its annual list of the World’s Top Earning Models. The models on the list are ranked according to estimated earnings from June 2009 to June 2010.

“We find that the experienced models continue to earn well.” says Ivan Bart, senior vice president and managing director of IMG Models. This opinion is close to Edward Razek’s, chief marketing officer for Limited BrandsVictoria’s Secret’s parent company, who thinks that “with the exception of the top 20 girls, there’s less work and less money”.

Thus you can learn and estimate for yourself the world’s most costly faces and bodies of the old guard.

10th place – Carolyn Murphy

The only American model on the Forbes’s TOP 10 Earning Models 2010 list. She was paid $3.5 million to be the face of Estée Lauder. Aside from her contract with Estée Lauder, 36 aged blonde is been campaigned for Roberto Cavalli, Anne Klein.

9th place – Miranda Kerr

The Australian model collected $4 million from Victoria’s Secret and David Jones Limited. Moreover, Miranda Kerr gets fat checks from her Kora cosmetic business.

8th place  – Daria Werbowy

Lancome and H&M contracts brought the new Cinderella $4.5 million! Who ever would have thought that the girl, hawking cheap duds from bargain retailers, would be seen wearing high-end houses like Missoni, Versace and Chanel?

6th place  – Natalia Vodianova and Alessandra Ambrosio

Another Cinderella, coming from the Russian backwoods, raised $5.5 million thanks to contracts with lingerie company Etam and lucrative fragrance campaigns with Guerlain and Calvin Klein. The 28-year-old beauty managed to make a good wife career as well, getting married with a real English lord! Vodianova also takes part in charity, running Naked Heart Foundation that raises money to provide playgrounds in Russia.

The Victoria’s Secret Brazilian star Alessandra Ambrosio is now breaking into the world of high fashion. In the past year has $5.5 million with high fashion labels including Louis Vuitton, Prada and Moschino.

5th place  – Doutzen Kroes

The good deal of signing the last contract with Victoria’s Secret two years ago, brought the 25-year-old Dutch sensation $6 million. Moreover, the Dutch beauty retains a lucrative contract with the most desired cosmetics brand L’Oreal.

4th place – Adriana Lima

New mom on the list Lima and her husband, basketball player Marko Jaric, welcomed a daughter in November. But this festal occasion doesn’t hinder her to earn $7.5 million. Another Victoria’s Secret angel atop the list also became the winner of the Ford model competition “Supermodel of the Year.” As we can see, Brazilian models are in favor this year!

3rd place – Kate Moss

Despite her personal and professional ups and downs, 36 year-old Moss, kept busy in the last 12 months, raising her 3th place on the Forbes’s TOP 10 Earning Models 2010 list with the $9 million. Aside from designing a fashion line for the British retailer Topshop, Kate Moss released a new perfume. She was also announced to design handbags for Longchamp and started a trend by dying her hair with gray streaks.

Moss still remains the face of Versace, Longchamp and David Yurman. Her motto 2009 was “Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.”

2nd place – Heidi Klum

This German sensation managed to earn $16 million, giving birth to her fourth child and celebrated her fourth wedding anniversary to singer Seal. At her 36, Klum remains unrivaled among the ranks of world-top supermodels . She continued her modeling career acting as a star of television series Project Runway, now in its seventh season. Runway has been inspired by Klum’s voice even featuring it in the videogame. But modeling remains Klum’s bread and butter. She continues to beautify Victoria’s Secret runways and catches her success in campaigns ranging from McDonald’s in Germany to Volkswagen.

1st place – Gisele Bündchen

The 29-year-old Brazilian beauty married to NFL quarterback Tom Brady gave birth to the couple’s first child in December, loosing the baby weight in a flash, earned $25 million! Aside from starring in campaigns for True Religion jeans, Dolce & Gabbana, the world’s most sought-out face and body has her own skin care line and her own lucrative sandals brand – Ipanema by Gisele. Gisele also takes part in charity – she reportedly donated $1.5 million to the Red Cross for Haiti, becoming a cover story of Vogue April.

Of course the hard crisis times will be over. And as soon as the economy recovers, the fashion industry will be in need of a fresh talent waiting for career-changing contracts. But still is it unlikely that fashion’s next “It Girl” will ever earn as much as Bündchen did.
