Green Fashion on the Red Carpet
Jun.09, 2010
For the hot summer season 2010 FashionWearToday proposes to wear green, environmentally friendly clothes. First of all, they are perfect for your skin, as they leave the skin dry and make it breathe.
Secondly, green clothes are on fashion height this season. And if it is not enough, green clothes are less expensive, as their materials are not so costly, as those made of synthetic fibers.
But you would probably ask me: Ok then, what should we wear on evening parties? Ladies, don’t worry! Our fashion experts got “green ideas” for you right from the red carpet. Of course, we won’t propose you to wear 3,000 LEDs dresses of silk chiffon like Katy Perry’s did at the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Just look at these dressy and at the same time eco-friendly evening gowns, wore by celebrities, and you’ll agree, that green clothes can be glamour.
Livia Firth and her eco-fashion gowns

The wife of Oscar nominated actor Colin Firth for A Single Man Livia Firth wore at the Oscars a custom-made-and-designed dress by Orsola de Castro, designer of fashion label From Somewhere. This black classic dress compliments Livia’s frame and is made entirely with recycled fabrics.

On the red carpet she also wore From Somewhere a re-purposed wedding dress by Christiana Couture, Mr. Larkin, Sara Shepard, Linda Loudermilk, Nina Skarra and Leila Hafzi.

Suzy Amis Cameron in her “Avatar blue green dress”

Wife of Avatar director James Cameron, Suzy Amis Cameron wore an Avatar-blue dress. The dress was created through The Red Carpet Green Dress Contest, an international fundraiser event for MUSE Elementary. The winner Jillian Granz is a 21-year-old fashion student at Michigan State University made the dress with approximately 85% sustainable materials; a blend of peace silk and hemp silk.

Unfortunately the “Avatar Blue” silk chiffon was out the eco-list. It was so due to time constraints and the lack of availability of a non-toxic dye that could create this special blue color.
Julia Roberts and her little eco-black-dress

This year’s Oscars saw Julia Roberts in her vintage little eco-black dress. A bold necklace by Van Cleef & Arpels, circa 1970 helped her to look amazing that evening. Fashion Rules says, Julia picked up the LBD at Frock (148 Elizabeth Street in New York City), a vintage clothing shop that carries one-of-a-kind designer pieces.
Summer Rayne Oakes – green activist in red dress

Model Summer Rayne Oakes wears a stunning red dress at the Rainforest Action Network’s 25th anniversary. The dress was designed by Katie Bierley of Isoude. Brierley uses natural plant dyes in a traditional hand-dyeing process. She works with local tailors in New England, where the textile industry once thrived. Dresses are made entirely by hand.

Maria Menounos – putting on milk power

Last February Maria Menounos wore an eco-dress dress made with 100 percent milk fiber by green fashion label Mr. Larkin walking the green carpet at Global Green’s pre-Oscar bash in Hollywood.
So see, green fashion is considered to be a vintage among the haute couture gowns ever-present on the red carpet. Today, it is more fashionable to dress in sexy eco-conscious ensembles for even the classiest of occasions.

Love Katy Perry’s little (big) number! Not sure it would work on most girls but she manages to look amazing in whatever she wears!
YouNeed2Wear, why not? Every woman or girl is a real brilliant, so why should not she shine?!!!
